I’m down in the dumps
feeling sad and very blue
once more far from home.

First Dad brought sunshine
some hugs and conversations
added to my days.

After Dad came Mom
bringing with her warmth and love
simply together.

Two weeks with my folks,
making me feel at home here
in far far away.

Games with the kiddos
laughter and family fun
days spent reveling.

Now it’s a quiet house
just baby and me again
a normal morning.

I’m feeling adrift
in my not so fairy tale
far far far away.

Morning comes early
three, four, five, five-ten a.m.
sleep baby please sleep.

Bleary mommy naps
wrapped under a sweatshirt
on the comfy couch.

Happy baby laughs
swatting mommy with his hand.
Wake up mommy, smack!

Five is too early
Sleep baby, please let me sleep.
Smack please baby, smack.

My daughter whispered to me.
